Let’s take a trip back in time, shall we?! Specifically, that time when I lived in a 600sqft apartment pre-pandemic. You probably already know by now that we moved out of this apartment 15 months ago when we purchased our first home a little further East. When I had this apartment photographed by Torrey Fox, I had no idea we’d be buying a home and moving just a few months later. These pictures never actually made it to the blog because we were full steam ahead purchasing a home, making renovations, and moving. I’m so excited to share home content from the last 15 months but first want to pay homage to this apartment that we loved so much.
Let’s start with the “entry”…I use entry loosely because it’s the main (and only) hallway. To give you an idea of the layout…the closed door on the right is the bathroom, the open door to the left is the bedroom, straight ahead in the main living space with the dining and kitchen in the back left.
When you live in minimal square footage, you have to maximize what space you have. I’m all about maximizing but also insist that it be cute. Some frames and hooks on the wall and this cabinet made the small entry/hallway attractive yet functional by offering additional storage space. The oversized frames did a great job hiding the electrical box that was so prominent in the hallway. I also really wanted to have four dining chairs for when we had people over for dinner, but our dining space didn’t allow for all four comfortably in day-to-day life, so I used one chair as part of the entry and for a drop space for my purse, packages, etc.
Mostly everything I purchase is either from HomeGoods, vintage, or a FB Marketplace or Craigslist find. I’ve tried to find similar items to those in my home below with some of them being the actual items.
