Come on in and stay awhile so I can take you all on a little Fall home tour! Before we get into the home decor, can we all just take a minute and try to wrap our head around the fact that it’s November 1st?! Where has the year gone?! This is my absolute favorite time of year and I try to savor it as much as I can because as fast as the rest of the year seems to go these last two months go even faster.
I’m not much of a decorator for Halloween because scary decor scares me. I prefer all things pumpkins and faux flowers. I went a little crazy with the pumpkins and faux flowers this year but I don’t hate it! Just like my Christmas decor I tried to pick Fall decor that fit in with the rest of my apartment.
This year I picked up most of my decor from the Target dollar section, HomeGoods, and a few things from Hobby Lobby, and World Market, and this new wreath from Michaels. I’ve had the same Fall wreath for at least six years and decided to change it up when I found this one back in August. Yes, I know….I am THAT person buying Fall decor during the summer. In my defense, I do hate that stores come out with seasonal things way before the actual season. HOWEVER, I learned my lesson last year. I found Fall and Christmas decor at Hobby Lobby that I loved back in like July. I refused to buy it that early and went back to buy what I had previously found when the season actually arrived. To my shock, yes shock I found that everything I wanted was gone and not getting restocked. I won’t make that mistake again!
I did make one seasonal splurge and that was the blue and white pumpkin below that I can’t get enough of. If you remember last year, I tried to do a DIY version of this pumpkin and it was an epic failure. This year I waited until Ballard Designs had a good sale and snagged my pumpkin. Those dollar section pumpkins I picked up definitely helped balance out my Ballard Designs splurge.
These pumpkins on the garden stool and ground weren’t meant to go here but I was completely unsuccessful as keeping that dam squirrel away from my pumpkins on the patio. He (or she) was relentless and ate all my “pink” pumpkins. When I added these mint pumpkins I decided just to keep them inside because I was sick of battling the squirrel. Dam squirrel had to go and ruin my own personal pumpkin patch I was working to create on the patio. Side note…I’ve blamed Lily for eating my cilantro since I noticed it was being eaten. Well now I’m convinced it was never actually her…..it was the squirrel!!
I can’t lie…I am THAT person that come November 1st I’m itching to put my Christmas decor up and play Christmas music (I guarantee that my mom starts playing hers today and watches a Hallmark Christmas movie #gotitfrommymama). I’m going to try and force myself to wait until at least the week of Thanksgiving before breaking out anything Christmas related. Having a faux tree again this year makes it really tempting to just put the tree up, but I’m going to stay strong because I do really love Fall and Thanksgiving.
Here’s to a new month, let’s make it a good one! Thanks so much for touring my home today!
