“Though she be little, she is fierce”
That’s the mantra I had in my head when decorating this little dining nook. I really disliked this little space from the second we moved in because the gray tile is just down right cold and not at all cozy. It also had long vertical blinds that were not my jam and a big white wall. It needed some serious love but had some great potential.
For how small our apartment is I love that we have an area to have a proper dining space (little but proper). I love eating dinner at the table as much as we can because it’s something my family did every night growing up so it gives me the warm and fuzzies. I snagged this table at World Market and it’s honestly the perfect size for a small home. The sides of it can also drop down if you are really tight on space
The chairs are also from World Market and are super comfy. Even though this table is small you can fit four dining chairs around it (and we do it all the time when we have guests over). We bought a total of four chairs and keep two at the table, one at our desk, and one that I’ve managed to make look like it’s part of our living room and works as a great catchall.
Let’s talk about this wall paper, shall we?! It’s removable!! I didn’t even know such a thing existed until my good ol’ friend Martha Stewart featured it in a magazine about two years ago. The second I saw it, I knew I needed to try it on this wall and I’m so glad I did. It adds a TON of character to the space and was crazy easy to install. I did it by myself in under an hour.
To finish off the wall I found this mirror at HomeGoods that was originally silver. The silver just didn’t do it for me and really blended into the wall. So to fix it I grabbed a trusty ol’ can of spray paint and painted away. I love how the black really pops on the wall paper. Mirrors are also my go to decor trick to make a space feel bigger and that trick really works in this space.
Because I don’t love this gray tile we needed a rug under the table to warm it up. I had a really pretty woven white/gray rug in here originally but a little frenchie got sick and there was no salvaging it. I think it worked out great though because now that I think about, that original rug was a tad too small. I scored this one on super sale over Labor Day Weekend and I love it.
Another thing that really helped to warm this space up was adding curtains….I LOVE curtains, especially white ones. I also love how the trim on these curtains plays off the wall paper
In case you were curious, here’s a little peak at what the dining nook looked like before. Isn’t it amazing what a little TLC can do to a space!?! I seriously love how far it’s come!
Thanks for sharing in my excitement for this little space! I can’t wait to share my fall home tour and brussel sprouts recipe here next week! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
