Last year around this time, I started a gratitude journal. It didn’t seem like that big of a deal at the time but I quickly realized what a difference it was making in my life and general mindset. It took me from being angry about traffic to being grateful that I had a car to take me to a wonderful job. I went from feeling bummed that only X amount of people were reading my blog to WOW people actually read my blog. What a difference in my mindset, isn’t it?
Now I wish I could say I’ve kept up with my gratitude journal for the entire year, but I haven’t. I recently just started noticing myself being a bit too negative about well, everything. My gratitude for things that I should be grateful for has diminished. Maybe that doesn’t seem like a big deal, but to me it is. Not everyone is guaranteed a tomorrow and we have to live each day being grateful for this life we are given. Being cranky about waking up early for work? How about being grateful to go to a job that provides for you and your family? Ugh, having to haul laundry down four flights of stairs?! How about being grateful that you have clothes to wash (and that there is laundry in the building)?
Thanksgiving is the perfect time for me to get back to writing in my gratitude journal and to find things to be grateful for each day, not just Thanksgiving. I did want to take the time to say “Thank You” to all of you, my readers and friends. Thank you for supporting this blog and for helping it grow. If it wasn’t for you guys, this blog wouldn’t be where it is today. Each and every time I come on here I’m amazed that more people than just my mom read this blog of mine. So again, THANK YOU, each and every single one of you!!
Do you keep a gratitude journal of your own? Do you practice being grateful every day?! I’d love to know! As I’ve sat here writing this post, I’ve thought about starting a new series. It would be something along the lines of what I was grateful for the past week. I’d love to share my journey of gratitude and what I’m grateful for each week because switching your mindset to this is hard. Trying to find a reason to be grateful for traffic? Hard. Would you all be interested in reading that? December is too busy to start a new series so I will mull the idea over and brainstorm about the possibility of launching that series in the new year.
Wishing you, your family, and friends a very happy Thanksgiving! May you be grateful and thankful not only today but every day of the year!
