Welcome to the new A Married Adventure!! I AM SO EXCITED to finally reveal my redesign to you all! This process was about 10x more emotional than I thought it would be, took 4x longer than I thought it would take, and made me realize that I have a tendency to second guess things (imagine that?!). Besides everything that happened, I couldn’t be happier with the end result. I can’t believe how a redesign could make me feel so inspired to keep blogging. I knew that redesigning my blog was something that was in my blogging future, I just only wish that I would have done it sooner. I’ve even learned some coding tricks along the way <-never thought those words would come out of my mouth!
During this redesign process, I actually thought about changing the name of my blog. A name change ended up being much more work than I was willing to take on at this point in my blogging career. Even though my blog doesn’t really focus on that many “married adventures” I sometimes wonder if people think that it does. I constantly question whether the name alone steers people away or makes them stay a while. Truth is, I’ll probably never know. Of course, just when I stop questioning it, I start to wonder again….do people assume it’s going to be all about getting or being married? Again, I will probably never know the answer, and that’s okay. Even though my inquiring mind would really love to know, I’ve come to accept the simple fact that I won’t know for sure. So for now, and maybe even forever, my blog name is staying the same as when it started out and I’m happy with that.
In honor of the redesign, I thought I would share where the name, “A Married Adventure” came from. When Ryan and I got engaged, we decided to house hunt. The thought of buying a fixer upper and making it our own was so exciting to us and we wanted to chronicle that journey through a blog (I was also obsessed with Young House Love at the time, pre-Chip and Jo days, of course). I thought to myself, “is there really a better way to chronicle something than with a blog?!” In addition to blogging about home renovations we thought it might be new and different to have this joint his and hers blog where we talked about relationship things and also our own separate interests.
When we started planning this idea I immediately thought about this clutch that I had been obsessed with for quite some time. It was this clutch from Kate Spade that said, “I Married Adventure.” The clutch is almost identical to the notebook in these pictures. I was super excited when Kate Spade brought back this line of “I Married Adventure” items recently that I had snag myself this notebook and mug. I thought that taking the clutch name “I Married Adventure” and changing it to “A Married Adventure” was just the cutest thing for a joint his and hers blog. So I purchased the name and we kept on scheming. Insert the heaviness that life can sometimes bring; law school, a wedding, and one very hectic job, coupled with an out of control housing market, our blog dream sort of fizzled out.
About a year later, I got a reminder to renew the website. I went back and forth with the idea of renewing it even though I knew our joint venture was no more. Then I thought, why don’t I just make it my own and still use the name? After all, I was still obsessed with that Kate Spade clutch. I was also longing for my own creative outlet to share my DIY projects of newlywed life. So I renewed it. I didn’t start blogging for about another year though. I started my Instagram account to see if I would stick with it and I did. So finally, A Married Adventure was launched and the rest was history.
Okay, so this might not be the most exciting behind the scenes reveal of a name that you’ve ever read, but that’s where it came from. I’m nosey and I love knowing the what’s and why’s about how or why other people chose their blog titles, so I thought maybe you all would like it too.
With my new site up and running I feel more inspired than ever to keep curating my little space on the world wide web with content I love that I think you will too. Thank you for following me along on this blogging journey, I appreciate you all more than you’ll ever know. I have a few new topics that I’m thinking of covering but would love to know if you have anything that you’d love to see. Please feel free to leave me a comment below, email me, or send me a direct message via social media.
Cheers to new beginnings!
