Last week I celebrated my 29th birthday. It’s the last birthday of my twenties and it’s sort of blowing my mind. Mostly because I feel like I just graduated college last year and have barely started to master this whole adulting business. The reality is, I actually graduated 7 years ago and my master adulting skills are really just that I do laundry once I get to my last pair of underwear, not when I’m completely out. **Slaps hand to forehead**
I remember when I was 22 and so over being in college and imagining what my life would look like in the next 5-10 years. SPOILER ALERT—my life looks a little different than that vision of mine that I had while cramming for finals with a view of the Pacific Ocean in beautiful Santa Barbara. You know what though? It’s okay that my vision is turning out differently because I feel like I’m exactly where I should be and I love my life and the season that it’s in.
In celebration of my last 20-something birthday, I thought I would share with you all what I’ve learned in my twenties!
What I’ve Learned in My Twenties:
Always trust your gut, it will never fail you
Wear sunscreen daily, dark spots are REAL
Suck it up and wash your face before bed, your skin will thank you
Everyone’s life unfolds at different paces, enjoy your pace
March to the beat of your own drum
Comparison is the thief of joy
People only show you what they want you to see
It’s okay to be picky
You WILL get drunk from drinking wine in a can
Coconut water works hydration wonders after drinking too many cans of wine
Find a good dry shampoo that works for your hair
Be grateful, always
Enjoy the season of life you’re in, you’ll never get it back
Do you girl, do you
Always choose quality over quantity
Invest in experiences
Mistakes will happen, it’s important to learn from them
Life is too short to do things that don’t make you happy
Small things can lead to big changes
Hard work and hustle will pay off, even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment
Simple is always better
Meal prepping will make a huge difference in your week, so will having your laundry done
There are so many things I’ve learned in the last 9 years and can only imagine what I’m going to learn from now until my 30th birthday and beyond. If you think your adulting skills are sub-par, don’t worry, I feel like I’m just starting to get the hang of it myself!
Cheers to a wonderful week!
Xoxo,
AP
