Well hello there, Peeps! It feels like it’s been a week or two since we’ve last caught up. Life has been so busy the last few weeks…you know, the type of busy where you feel like you can’t even stop and take a breath let alone sit down and eat a real meal. I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that my day job keeps me pretty busy and the last few weeks have been 60+ hour weeks. So yeah, there hasn’t been much time for anything else except sleep.
The other night I had this completely overwhelmed feeling and just couldn’t seem to get anything done. I sat at the table and procrastinated with EVERY SnapChat filter that could possibly entertain me. I now have a few new favorite filters thanks to my professional procrasition. Finally, I decided I needed an eyebrow pencil (mine was almost out) so I picked myself up and went to Ulta.
I normally only go to Ulta to get what I need and hightail it out of there. If I let myself wander, I end up spending lord knows how much money. Well, of course I wandered AND I wandered Ulta until I just couldn’t wander anymore, leaving me with a bag FULL of new goodies and old favorites. Wandering Ulta = so bad for the pocket book but kind of good for the soul. I just wandered around and found new products and old products that I wanted to try again and all my worries of the moment seemed to just have melted away.
So without further adieu, my latest Ulta Haul…..
Have you all been to the Drybar?! If you haven’t, you should totally treat yourself and go, it’s amazing! If I could go on the regular I totally would! I’ve wanted to try some of their hair products for a while but I just haven’t pulled the trigger. I’m also always on the hunt for a good texturizing spray. Right now I use Oribe and it’s seriously so AMAZING and I dare say worth the high price point. BUT I still search for less expensive options. I bought The Drybar Triple Sec travel size and have used it the last few days, it’s actually pretty good. Not quite as good as my Oribe texture spray but definitely in my top favorite 3. If you are crazy sensitive to smells then I would not recommend trying this. It smells great, but it’s strong and the smell stays all day. That is probably my biggest criticism with the spray.
L’Oreal JLo Collection Lipstick
I love this mauve color and the fact that it’s a semi long wear lipstick. I’m such a big fan that I had to have three of them during their initial launch. The red options are fabulous!
I’ve been using this mascara for what feels like forever now and it’s the BEST. Hands down, this is the best drugstore mascara you’re going to buy. Trust me, I’ve tried them all! I even think it’s better than Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ and the ‘Diorshow’ mascara. And for only $9.99, you just can’t beat it. One of my favorite things about this mascara is that it’s not waterproof but doesn’t smear at all throughout the day. It has something to do with the fibers and how it clings to your lashes. Don’t freak out in the shower when it feels like you’re eyelashes are melting off, it’s just the mascara. No panic attack needed, it’s totally normal and I promise you all my lashes are still intact.
Batiste Hint of Color Dry Shampoo
I totally bought the wrong color, I meant to grab the blonde or light brown but grabbed the dark by mistake. Rats! But I want to give this a try because my current dry shampoo is pretty pricey. I love it and seriously think it’s the best on the market (out of those that I’ve tried) but again, $$$. I’ve heard great things about Batiste and can’t wait to give this one a try. I would be thrilled if I love this because it’s half the price of Klorane.
It Cosmetics Heavenly Skin Smoothing Brush
I’ve been following some beauty bloggers and they all seem to rave about this brush…even all the gals in Ulta raved about it. I wanted to try it when I bought my confidence in a compact but decided not to. I’m super excited to try this brush and see what all the hype is about. If it’s all it’s cracked up to be I will be sure to let you know!
Okay, here’s the deal…I’m worried that this brand might be breaking my skin out. BUT I love the confidence in a compact and the airbrush powder despite the pimples they may be causing. I’ve recently introduced a few new products into my skincare routine, including this make-up so my skin just might be adjusting to everything. The reason I think it could be the breakout culprit is because of all the sunscreen. I’m super sensitive when it comes to sunscreen, like so sensitive that sometimes I breakout within an hour. I basically just wanted to try this foundation because of how everyone raves about it. I wanted to see for myself and compare it to the confidence in a compact.
I had to exchange the color I originally purchased because it was too dark on me. This girl is a fair as they come so I should know better than to buy a shade up. I thought it would give me a nice bronzed look, but I was WRONG, sooooo wrong! Besides my color blunder that I had, this powder is the B O M B . C O M!
Clean and Clear Spot Treatment
Thanks to this not so cute breakout I keep having I’ve been in desperate need of acne spot treatments and this one always seems to work pretty well for me.
Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Heat Protectant Spray
This is probably my 5th bottle of this spray and I really like it…it smells great and I feel like it does a great job at protecting my hair from all my curling. As I take a strand of hair to curl I spritz the strand and then curl till my hearts content.
I first got this mask as a sample in my Birch Box and loved it. I was super amused with how you have to peel it off. There is something so gratifying in peeling a product off your skin and then seeing results. Am I weird for thinking this or does anyone else agree with me? I really feel like my skin is refreshed and glowing when I use this mask regulary. If you decide to try this I recommend applying a thicker coat because it’s SO much easier to peel off.
I haven’t tried this one but one of my favorite bloggers who has amazing hair volume uses this (along with other products) so I thought I’d give it a try, myself. Who doesn’t want more volume in their hair?!? I’ll take all I can get!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil
The original item I went into Utla for, literally the ONE and ONLY thing that I really did need. These brow pencils are my favorite because the color options are so good and form of the pencil is the great for filling in my brows. I also love her clear brow mascara to help keep my unruly eyebrows in place.
Good lord has my skin been crazy dry this winter. It keeps going in spurts of extra dry/dry so I’ve decided to break out the big guns. After only a few weeks of using Cetaphil regularly in the shower I usually see a difference in my dry skin. The only reason I don’t always use Cetaphil regularly is the consistency, it’s weird to wash with, I can’t even lie. Like really weird. I don’t know what it is about Cetaphil that helps my skin but that paired with Cera-v is my go to combination for my good ol’ dry skin issues.
