The Americano
While not in Charleston, this retro inspired restaurant/ bar is only a few miles across the Ravanel Bridge. We stopped here on our way back from Sullivan’s Island and were pleasantly surprised. You can’t beat the happy hour with the $5 mojitos and palomas. Both of the happy hour drinks are so tasty and fresh that you could easily drink $20 worth faster than you can say Charleston. The Cuban inspired tacos were sooooo good that I ate 3….just make sure to tell them you are gluten free so they leave off the items that contain gluten.
The Gin Joint
If you’re looking for a cool and relaxing cocktail bar, then this is your place. You aren’t going to find your classic cocktail here because all the drinks are handcrafted and unique to The Gin Joint. My personal favorite was the Bartender’s Choice–you pick two adjectives from the given list and the bartender creates a surprise cocktail from those words. My words were “sweet” and “refreshing” and it was definitely my favorite cocktail I ordered, but you really can’t go wrong with the other selections.
The Vendue Hotel
The rooftop bar has a spectacular view of Charleston…I would have loved to stay up here longer but it was just too hot during the day. In fact it was so hot that I didn’t even take my own picture, gasp! I borrowed this one from good ol’ Google. My drink of choice was a crisp refreshing glass of rosé.
The Daily
Trying the local coffee shops on any trip is a must for me since I’m always on the hunt for the perfect vanilla latte. The Daily by Butcher and Bee had great reviews for both breakfast and coffee. I was personally really excited to try their almond milk since they make it in house. The grab and go section was cool and unique with a lot of different items that are made locally like the fresh juices and honey. To be honest, this place was super hipster so if that’s your kind of vibe then you should totally go here!
Black Tap Coffee
Black Tap Coffee not only has a super cute exterior (I mean, what building doesn’t in Charleston?) The inside was just as cute with it’s country modern interior. There’s a little bit of a hipster vibe here but it’s also so warm and welcoming thanks to the super friendly staff. The brown sugar latte mixed with a little bit of vanilla was my personal favorite drink!
